Known since 1938 as a "locals' favorite", ALTA attracts skiers from around the world. Long ago, glaciers created giant bowls as they receded from the headwaters of the canyon. It is almost as if nature wrote the ideal blueprint for ALTA - generously carving out a playground for beginner, intermediate and expert skiers!
ALTA is recognized not only for its variety of terrain, but also for its stunning scenery, quality of dry snow and absence of snowboarders. ALTA is a skiers’ mountain.
ALTA is located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Elevation at base is 2,600m. Top elevation is 3,216m. Average snowfall exceeds 13m each winter season.
